You’ve heard it in songs, you’ve heard it in phrases, you’ve heard it from your friends, but do you truly understand it?

Ji, ma sun. (Stay woke & don’t sleep).

Being and staying woke doesn’t mean you shouldn’t catch physical sleep. In fact, you need to have good sleep to really stay woke.

To stay woke means to be in the know, to be knowledgeable, and to be aware of your environment (community, industry and your world at large).

Are you sleeping on these things?

How informed are you & how do you stay informed?

How much time do you invest in developing yourself every day?

Are you running with any vision or are you just passively passing through life?

If you claim to be woke, how woke are you?

Again I say, physical sleep is good, but too much of it destroys. And the reason many people sleep long hours is because they really have nothing to wake up to.

What do you wake up to every day?

If those things are powerful enough, staying woke will never be a struggle – it will be normal.

When you’re physically tired, rest and sleep, BUT STAY WOKE.


And when you wake up physically every day, make sure you wake up to something.

Wake up to a commitment to be and do better.

Wake up to a vision and a goal.

Wake up to responsibility and work.


Have a vision for your life: a vision for a better life (for yourself and the family you have and/or will have); a vision for a better social status; a vision to make a positive impact, etc.

Have a vision and run with your vision. Don’t sleep on your dreams.

Say no to average. Say no to mediocrity and ignorance. Stop being the last person to know things you should know firsthand.

Embrace responsibility. Be on “the know.” Be on the go with your plans and vision.

The life of your dream is very possible, but you must stay woke to live it.

Wake up. Stay woke. Live woke. Sleep no more.

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man. Prov. 24:33-34

Be exceptional.
