What Does the Name Satan Mean?
Q: What does the name “Satan” mean?
Satan is a name and title that means “the accuser” Revelation 12:10.
This name shows that he took it upon himself to bring people (celestial and terrestrial) on trial before the courts of heaven, Ezekiel 28:16, Job 1:6, Luke 22:31, and Revelation 12:10.
But worse than that is that at some time, he puts God on trial before His creation, Genesis 3:1-5, Psalm 2:1-3.
This name and title equally apply to his hosts of angels and servants. Every one of them can be called Satan, just as every one of them can be called devil, but there’s “the Devil” and “the Satan,” James 2:19, Revelation 12:9.
