Q: Why did Jesus call Peter “Satan”?

Jesus recognized that Peter spoke, opposing His death and resurrection, under the influence of Satan the Opposer. That is why He said that. In a sense, He wasn’t speaking to Peter (a man), He was speaking directly to a spirit who wasn’t mindful of the things of God but that of men.

    Read Matthew 16:21-23.
