Yes, he can! Satan is the god of this world, and he often uses the material goods and blessings of this world to lure people away from God. Remember that in tempting Jesus, he offered to give him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. If he couldn’t give it, he wouldn’t offer it. Jesus Himself said it is unprofitable to gain the world and lose one’s soul. It’s a bad deal. But unfortunately, this is the deal many accept because of the love of money, lust, greed, and covetousness. It’s a deal people make often, but lose their soul in the bargain.
